Ghost Food
Miriam Simun and Miriam Songster have been traveling around Baltimore with the help of a group of John's Hopkins students and the people from the Contemporary showing people what they think food will be like after environmental change causes food extinctions. The presentation is nice, a spooky small food truck trailer painted white with a nicely designed 'Ghost Food' sign on the top. As one walks up to the truck they are offered one of three items by student volunteers dressed all in white. I chose the peanut butter but first I was handed a strange white plastic device that slipped on like glasses but held a smell soaked piece of cotton directly under my nose. I was then given a piece of bread and was told to breathe deeply in through my nose while I ate the bread, and IT WORKED!!
The things that could have been done better was simply training the student volunteers better. The experience was stopped from being a complete teleportation to another realm by the simple mistakes and lack of commitment by the student volunteers. Other than that it was a great project.
