At the same unlabeled show as I saw the Fossum paintings there were also sculptures by Magali Hebert-Huot. These were all tall monolithic wooden structures made of unfinished, unpainted particle board. I felt like they also seemed unfinished and when I went to her website to find out who she was (due to the lack of information given at the show) I saw that all of her other works are painted in interesting sections of vibrant colors. I am honestly left to believe that between this surface treatment and the lack of finished qualities to the paintings by the other artist maybe this show was done on short notice. I will definately be checking back at this gallery to see if this is a recurring problem, or if it was just because it was (I believe) their innagural show.
